Welcome to the Wye Valley Greenway
The Wye Valley Greenway is a scenic five-mile shared-use path through the stunning Lower Wye Valley, following the historic route of the former Wye Valley Railway.
Designed for cyclists, walkers, and wheelchair users, the greenway provides a safe, accessible, and sustainable link from Wyedean School, Sedbury, and Chepstow to the charming village of Tintern—passing through the breathtaking 1km-long Tidenham Tunnel along the way.
Tidenham Tunnel Opening Times
To protect the resident bat population, Tidenham Tunnel is open during daylight hours from 1st April to 30th September. Outside of these dates, the tunnel is closed, but the rest of the greenway remains open year-round, 24/7.
Need an alternative route?
Signs along the greenway and an online map provide details of alternative walking and cycling routes over the tunnel.
Come and explore this beautiful, traffic-free route and experience the Wye Valley like never before!
